Deep Fryers

Turkey Fryers

One of the newest and most delicious traditions for all holidays from Christmas to Easter and back to Thanksgiving is deep fried turkey. This novel way of cooking the whole turkey makes the outside crispy while keeping the meat inside perfectly moist. Another boost in flavor can be added by injecting a marinade prior to frying in specially made turkey fryers. The most popular version of this is a Cajun marinade.

Cajun food is the delectable and spicy fare of the descendants of the Acadians who settled in Southern Louisiana. Baton Rouge, New Orleans and everywhere in between is characterized by this flavor and culture. It even extends into portions of Southeast Texas and Southwest Mississippi.

Crawfish Boil

Crawfish boils along with shrimp and crab boils can be found across southern Louisiana and it is the crawfish boil that is most closely associated with the Louisiana cooking. To put on a crawfish boil all you need is a large pot (60 to 80 quarts) fitted with a basket strainer and heated by propane burner and add seasoning. While cooking the crawfish, you can include corn, new potatoes, onions, and heads of garlicduring the boil.

The usual routine for a crawfish boil is to do a short boil followed by a period of soaking with the heat turned off. Stock Pots

For boiling shrimp, crab or crawfish, both stainless steel stockpots and aluminum stockpots are a good choice. For water- based boils, such as crawfish, shrimp, and crab, aluminum stockpots are generally preferred because they are lighter, cheaper and conduct heat better than stainless steel stockpots. If you are cooking chilies, tomatoes based sauces, beer stainless steel stockpots are a good choice for two reasons 1) These recipes are highly acidic 2) These recipes require longer cooking durations and storage.

When making your final decision on whether to buy aluminum or stainless steel stockpots, consider cost, cooking application, weight and quality. Both aluminum and stainless steel stockpots are great choices for cooking.

When family and friends get together, it always seems to center around food. Gathering together to enjoy the outdoors and a delicious meal is the hallmark of Cajun culture. The spices and seasonings that have made Louisiana Cajuns famous can be duplicated at your home. However, many of the cooking techniques that make Cajun food turn out so delectable involve special equipment that is used outdoors. For instance, crawfish boil stock pots, turkey fryers, deep fryers, and even jambalaya pots are all a part of the culinary experience. When you purchase these types of equipment, they are usually powered by propane burners that are sold separately.
