Aluminum Stock Pots

Aluminum Stock Pots have been increasingly produced for the past 100 years. Aluminum stockpots are manufactured three ways: pressed, cast and anodized. Pressed aluminum stockpots are generally cheaper and the least resistant to wear. Cast aluminum stockpots are unusually thicker and more durable, having a midrange cost.

Aluminum stockpots are usually measured in quart sizes. Smaller aluminum stockpots range only a few quarts while large aluminum stockpots are over 150-quarts. If you buy a large aluminum stockpot, it is a good idea to get one with a drain or spigot near the bottom for easier draining.

Aluminum stockpots should not be cleaned with abrasive materials. Although they are dishwasher safe, most detergents will dull or discolor the aluminum finish overtime. Stainless steel will develop a patina from cleaning, but unlike aluminum, stainless steel stockpots can be expected to last for generations.
